Wilderness Wildlife Week in Pigeon Forge
Pigeon Forge, Tennessee is the place to be for the 22nd Annual Wilderness Wildlife Week. From January 7 through January 14, 2012, you can enjoy some amazing adventures in the Smoky Mountains. For eight wonderful days you can explore nature, set out on some fantastic hikes, and the best part is the event is totally free.
Some of the exciting Pigeon forge events that will take place are a photography contest and some amazing history seminars and lectures. The photography contest will feature seven different divisions. These include amateur, professional, wildlife, landscape and seascape, youth and young adult for ages 17 and under, Great Smoky Mountains Landmarks, and Nature’s Wonder in Black and White. There is also a new judges’ choice award.
Adventure lovers can embark on over 50 hikes with a trail guide to lead the way. Whatever your experience is in hiking, there will be special hikes just for you. From easy to strenuous, pick the hike that suits your level of comfort. Before heading on any of the hikes, be sure you are prepared. You will want to have a hat and gloves, rain gear, a lunch or snack for the trail, water, extra socks in case your feet get too wet, a flashlight and small knife. These are essentials in assuring for a care free hike.
The Convention center will also hold some delightful musical acts. Come tap your feet to the Boogertown Gap Band, Tony Thomas or the Carolina Bluegrass Boys. The Appalachian Cloggers will put on a great show for you. Be ready to clap, sing and dance along.
There are also plenty of children’s activities. Kids can learn about the wildlife that lives in the Smokies, meet some creatures up close, enjoy hands on musical fun, and even join in on some crafting and building.

Pigeon Forge has plenty of places to satisfy your hunger. The Old Mill Restaurant will treat you to some down home southern cookin’. There are also dinner shows to entertain you while you eat. The Lumberjack Feud will show you some tree climbing, log rolling, and a big serving of comedy on top. While the Hatfield and McCoy Dinner Show will get you tangled in the middle of the feud, while audience members participate and laugh while enjoying a feast.
