The general store and cider mill are actually built inside a real barn! The Apple Barn was built in 1910 as part of a real farm. Two families, the Hicks and Kilpatrick, bought the property in 1972, and in 1980, they started renovating the old cattle barn to make it into The Apple Barn.

2. There are 2 restaurants on site.

Apple Barn Village doesn’t have just one restaurant—it has two! The Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant was established in 1986, and the old farmhouse was transformed into an eatery where people from all over the world could enjoy delicious southern food. Due to the popularity of the original restaurant, the Applewood Farmhouse Grille was built to help with the overflow! Both restaurants serve the same delicious southern cuisine, and you’ll find all kinds of signature dishes, including chicken and dumplings, meatloaf, and fried chicken, Of course, with every meal, you’ll get apple cinnamon muffins, apple fritters, apple butter, and apple julep!

3. Watch cider be made in the fall.

The apples grown in the orchards on the property are harvested during peak season, and then are taken to the kitchens and distilleries on the property. There are a variety of hard cider flavors, including Sip Gingerly, Cider House Blues, and Berry Patch.

5. All of the wines are made from apples.

Once you visit the Cider House, you’ll want to head over to the winery, where you will find all kinds of wine, but this wine isn’t made from grapes! Just like quite a few of the pastries and other dishes on the property, this wine is made from the apples grown in the orchard! You’ll find classics, such as merlot, muscadine, and white wine, but you’ll also find some unique flavors, including apple pomegranate, apple strawberry, and apple cherry.
